back to Portfolio        2nd Semester Studio Final
For this project I was tasked with creating a home for the the shrinking city of Detroit. After researching the area, I decided to go with an adjustable live/work structure as well as include amenities that will help the entire neighborhood. The idea is that a family can rent as much space as they need and can rent more or less space as their family needs change with the use of removable walls. I have also included a daycare and a continuing education/Job training facilities to help revitalize the community. Finally, the site has an urban farm and is lined with wind generators that will supply the buildings and immediate neighborhood with power and food to help alleviate struggles residents currently deal with in the black-out and food dessert areas.
